Manjusri

Om arapachana Dhih

According to Chinese tradition, in order to bring Manjusri into manifestation the Buddha caused a golden ray to emanate from his forehead This ray pierced a jambu tree which grew from the foundation of the most sacred Buddhist mountain in China, now called Wu Tai Shan. A lotus sprang from the tree and from the interior of the flower was born the prince of sages, also called the Prince Royal of the Buddha's realm. He was born without father and mother and was thus free from the pollution of the common world.

The Eight Worldly Concerns

The eight worldly concerns are:

to be happy when we are praised,
to be unhappy when we are insulted,
to be happy if we receive gifts,
to be unhappy if we don’t,
to be happy upon achieving reputation,
to be unhappy when we are unsuccessful,
to be happy when we are comfortable,
to be unhappy when we are not.

We should not be practising the Dharma for these reasons at all.

It will be better to memorise those eight worldly concerns than a
hundred tantric practices, and I am not trying to blow your mind away.
But yes, if you know the mantras and practices and all the initiations
of one hundred tantric deities but you are practising with the eight
worldly concerns, you will not achieve even one tantric result of one
tantric deity. --Tsem Tulku - Compassion Conquers All

The Basis of Bodhicitta

The Four Immeasurables

Love – The wish that all beings are happy

Compassion – The wish that all beings are free from suffering

Joy – The feeling of knowing that all beings will eventually be happy

Equanimity – Everyone gets the same love as we have for our mothers or dearest friend without exception

“Love, compassion, joy, and equanimity constitute the “four immeasurables” that are the very core of Mahayana practice. When these four attitudes penetrate our mind and guide our way of thinking, talking, and acting, this is called bodhicitta” Bokar Rinpoche – Chenrezig Lord of Love

Spinning

I'm often reminded how easy it is to slip off.
Mind floating.
Buzzing.
Then we get caught up.
Mind flipped out.
Got us looking like a young pup.

The monkey spins,untethered,with a grin.
We look back.
Wondering.
What is going on.
Then we realize.
That we're in disguise.

The Awakened Mind

Homage to those courageous beings who have abandoned all self cherishing attitudes and have fully awakened.

Before you I offer my body speech and mind.

Through the grace of the enlightened mind,

I pray that one day I will be of benefit to all beings in every direction.

To those who suffer in cyclic existence I offer myself to you.

May we all have a happy life free from suffering.
